Two Memoirs, Two Local Authors Speak on CzechoSlovak History
Join us on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, 7:30 p.m. at the Ewald Branch of the Grosse Pointe Public Library, for a very special program. Grosse Pointe Farms resident John Kozak was only seven when he escaped with his mother and older sister from the oppressive Communist rule in Czechoslovakia. He has poignantly recounted the stories and bravery of his mother Rose during and after World War II in Through the Eyes of Rose.
Charles Novacek was recruited in to the Czech resistance at the age of eleven. His harrowing memoir of resistance, capture and escape has been beautifully edited and published by his widow Sandra Novacek, a librarian at the Grosse Pointe Public Library, in Border Crossings: Coming of Age in the Czech Resistance.
Register for the program online, or call 313-343-2074 ext. 222. The library is located at 15175 E. Jefferson, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan 48230.
